Professional skills

Roger Strebel was manager of energy risks in a Swiss cantonal[KR1]  utility. His responsibilities[KR2]  included the whole value chain from highly flexible hydraulic production plants to combined cycle gas turbines with its gas supply contract, to the supply of captive end users and clients with market access. He conceived, realized and operated all the systems and developed them continuously. He was also editor of the risk report to the board of administrators.

Modelling

During his studies in physics, Roger Strebel put up the systems to control and command the measurements of microscopic specimens in an ion probe, as automated the measuremens and digitization of the results. For him as a physicist, confidence levels have always been part of the measurement result itself.

IT

On his first computer Roger Strebel wrote a program to calculate astronomical ephemerides. In their current Excel version these are good for use in astronomical navigation on height observations.

Later, rendering of maps of fractal functions occupied his computers quite a while. Simulations of cellular automates, physical systems and solvers of a selection of games (master mind, SuDoKu, crossword generator) show his wide interest.

He has written some programs for marine use on a seagoing sailboat on programmable HP pocket calculators.
